The Scottish Model Engineering Trust run four open days a year at the Wester Pickston Railway. The dates for 2012 are
Track running starts at about 11:30am through to about 4:00pm.
An open day is a very popular event which is fun for all the family. Normally there are three or four steam engines operating, pulling carriages with room for about 10 passengers, there is also backup provided by electric locomotives. There are often other attractions such as Traction Engines, displays in the workshop as well as the 16mm Garden Railway. Parking is free, tickets to ride on the trains are purchased from the ticket office. Many families make return visits throughout the year. Children love coming to the railway and really enjoy the rides on the steam trains.
There is a picnic area as well as catering in the club room. The static models in the workshop attract many visitors.
For a fee our facilities are available at certain other times should you wish to hold a birthday party or other function. We also have a portable track that we can bring to your event. Please contact our events manager,
