The Wester Pickston Railway is owned and run by the Scottish Model Engineering Trust. The railway is located in a seven acre woodland site which was purchased by the trust.
The dual gauge ground level track was moved from its previous location in Cromwell Park, Perth after the members cleared and laid a new track bed in the trees. Work is in progress to extend the track further into the site, which will provide a number of running options. In addition to the railway enthusiasts in the trust there are several members who own and run model traction engines and waggons. The trust plans to provide paths for the vehicles.
Trackside there is a signal box and ticket office with an environmentally friendly toilet block. Behind the ticket office is the start of the 16mm Garden Railway which runs in parallel to the ground level station.
Ample parking is provided in front of the workshop and club room building. Electricity to power the club room / workshop is generated on site.
Weather permitting the first Sunday in the month is a club running day for the members, Visiting engines from other clubs are very welcome(please bring a current boiler certificate for steam engines). Other visitors are welcome but there is no guarantee trains will be running.
